Softshell is a relative new comer to the outdoor enthusiasts clothing choice. Designed to fit between fully waterproof hardshells and insulating fleece garments. They are designed to offer more weather protection than a fleece, but with more breathability than a hardshell. Like fleece garments they are available in a number of "weights", offering various degrees of insulation - allowing the users to fine tune their choice based on ambient weather conditions and the degree of excersion involved.
